Bush's Crusades

Terrorist flew planes in to the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and a field in PA. Each tower was hit by one plane and within two hours were reduced to a pile of rubble. The pentagon was hit by one plane and due to its design it did was able to withstand the blow and suffered minimal damage compared to the world trade. The plane that crashed into the field in PA. crashed because of a group of passengers tried to over throw the hijackers and the hijackers had no chance but to crash the plane.
Bush’s use of the word crusade towards this war was a huge mistake because the crusades were a series of holy wars between Christians/Catholics and Muslims. When he said crusade he struck fears of another religious war instead of a war on terrorism. Many also thought the war would attack more than those responsible for 9/11.
It was a bad idea to compare this current war to the Crusades because the Crusades were a series of holy wars. This war that we are fighting in the Middle East is a war on terrorism and not religion.
The group of people fighting in the Crusades were the Christians/Catholics and the Muslims.

The Diffrences Between Americans And Ancient Rome

I think that Americans are not different from the Romans who cheered at the coliseum because Americans still cheer when people get hurt, some people laugh at others when they trip or get hurt or something like that. People laugh at other peoples miseries, and that’s the same thing the Romans did at the coliseum.

Distractions in Rome and The United States

In the Roman Empire some of the distractions were Gladiator fights. These were fights that took place in the coliseum between prisoners, prisoners and exotic animals. This was for the entertainment for all of Rome. All fights were free and that allowed everyone to attend. In the U.S we have similar events such as Wrestling, boxing or any other sport. Especially wrestling and boxing you hope that some one gets hurt seriously. All those things are a distraction from every day problems. In Rome the Gladiator fights were a distraction as well.

Athens was a city state in ancient Greece and was peaceful and calm. It focused on Education and the arts. Athens was also run by a democracy. Sparta was a city state that focused on its military and sporting events such as the first Olympics. Sparta was not a democracy but a Military State. Sparta and Athens were both city states in Ancient Greece.
